Herceptin Class Action Lawsuits Information

Herceptin is a drug that was FDA approved in 1998 as a monoclonal antibody bioengineered from part of a mouse antibody altered to closely resemble a human antibody. Herceptin was intended to regulate cell growth for cancer patients. A warning was issued regarding Herceptin and the risk of developing ventricular dysfunction and congestive heart failure following the reports of 15 deaths with Herceptin patients.

The drug was quickly linked to fatalities and serious complications despite the belief that Herceptin would extend the survival rate of cancer patients. An estimated 25,000 cancer patients have used Herceptin. Fatal anaphylaxis, infusion reactions leading to possible death, and pulmonary events occurred because of the use of Herceptin.

The Herceptin side effects have resulted in as little as 24-hours from beginning the medication and have proven to be fatal in some instances.
