Androstenedione Class Action Lawsuits Information

Androstenedione is known as andro, a dietary supplement that is a naturally occurring element in the body but not a part of the diet. Currently there are twenty companies who manufacture or sell androstenedione products names in lawsuits due to false marketing. The lawsuits state that the companies have been fraudulent claiming the androstenedione products do not work as alternatives to anabolic steroids as marketed.

Claiming androstenedione will promote muscle growth that is legal and has proven effectiveness, many companies have been able to sell androstenedione because the FDA due to its classification as a dietary supplement does not regulate it. Androstenedione has been found to elevate hormone levels, raising concern of gynecomastia and increased risk of breast cancer in women and pancreatic cancer in men. Found in health food stores, the use of androstenedione supplements is banned by the International Olympic Committee, the National Football League, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Androstenedione Side Effects

Androstenedione side effects are potentially deadly conditions, increasing the risk for heart disease, prostate enlargement, and prostate cancer. In addition, androstenedione side effects can affect cholesterol levels and blood levels. Initially, mostly men were taking androstenedione because they thought it would increase muscle mass and enhance athletic performance, but androstenedione side effects were not yet known.

When the serious androstenedione side effects were discovered, people wondered why androstenedione was put on the market after just one study was done on it, a clearly insufficient study for potential androstenedione side effects. The single study was done on three women and looked a testosterone levels in the blood for only 90 minutes, which was insufficient considering an androstenedione side effect includes the body no longer making its own testosterone and leading to a large estrogen increase in males. Androstenedione side effects pose such a serious threat to individuals that the supplement is not allowed in major athletic leagues.

More Androstenedione Information

Androstenedione information shows that there are very serious dangers associated to the supplement. The androstenedione information containing evidence that life-threatening conditions can result from its use was alarming to people whom had been taking the supplement for enhanced athleticism and increased muscle mass. Androstenedione information shows that there are very few benefits of taking the supplement, especially when compared to the risks.

Companies marketing androstenedione in their products were providing misleading androstenedione information to consumers by saying any increased strength would result from the use of the supplement. Now men taking androstenedione and thinking they would gain large muscles were given androstenedione information saying they had a greater risk of suffering heart disease, prostate enlargement, and prostate cancer. In addition, males who had taken large quantities of androstenedione found that testosterone production had halted, increasing the level of estrogen in their bodies.

There was no androstenedione information made available showing that instead of more muscle, they could suffer serious health conditions and lowered levels of testosterone. Any androstenedione taker should receive androstenedione information to have monitored blood levels of hormones, cholesterol, and other blood fats.
